Peter “The Stayer” Sayer has done it again. After training numerous stayers over the past few years to great success, he has managed to get three year old Leonidas to win on debut over the distance in fine fashion last night at Cannington. With two devastating wins over the 642 metres in provincial class at his previous two starts, Pistol Pete has timed it exquisitely and stepped him up beautifully. Monty, as he is known around the kennel, went with them early and by the time they had hit the first bend he had monstered his way to the lead. (Picture for display purposes only.
